Fabindia, which retails apparel, home furnishing, personal care and other products made from traditional techniques, skills and hand-based processes, is focusing on consolidating its position in the market. The retail chain currently has 141 outlets across India, including 21 in Delhi-NCR.
“During the last financial year, we successfully rolled out 31 stores and now stand at 141 outlets across India. We have also opened an outlet in Jumeirah, Dubai. As far as our expansion plans our concerned, our primary focus will be on consolidating our market position and exploring new avenues,” Saveen Sharma, region head – marketing, Fabindia, told IndiaRetailing.
Expanding its presence in the national capital, Fabindia recently opened its twenty-first outlet in Delhi-NCR. The new store at Model Town in north Delhi occupies an area of 1,850 sq.ft.
On the rationale behind opening the store in the Model Town area, Sharma said, “If you look at North Delhi, which is a fairly big region of the city, we only had one store at Kamla Nagar Market. Therefore, to be able to reach out to the customer, we opened this new outlet.”
Fabindia, the company website says, links over 40,000 craft-based rural producers to modern urban markets, thereby creating a base for skilled, sustainable rural employment, and preserving India’s traditional handicrafts in the process.
The company promotes inclusive capitalism through its unique COC (community-owned companies) model.
