Footwear retailer Metro Shoes has opened its first store in Nanded, Maharashtra. Spread over 1,600 sq.ft., the outlet stocks over 11,100 pairs of shoes by that comprise formal, casual, sports-wear, and wedding footwear for men, women, and children by brands like Florsheim, Lee Cooper, Red Tape, Bulchee, Fila, Franco Leone & Ganuchion.
Speaking on the occasion, J. Kamdar, Director, Metro Shoes, said: “Nanded is one of the most rapidly developing cities in Maharashtra which has made it an ideal location for a Metro Shoes store.Being of prime historical importance, it is constantly frequented by tourists and is also an educational hub with many engineering and management colleges located here. We feel that the region’s footwear market has tremendous opportunity and we hope to reach out to a wider base and provide footwear solutions to one and all. Customers are expected to come from nearby areas, such as Higoli, Latur, Parbhani, Purna and Parly to shop for the various exclusive brands stocked at Metro Shoes.”
Men’s shoes are priced from Rs 1,090 onwards while ladies’ shoes are priced from Rs 590 onwards. The retailer also houses men’s and women’s accessories such as handbags, wallets, belts and shoe care products starting from Rs 300 onwards.
Metro Shoes is present across 175 locations across the country. The first Metro Shoes store opened in Colaba, Mumbai in 1947. Metro Shoes operates as an MBO across tier I, II and III cities. As of FY 2012-13, the retailer clocked a turnover of Rs 666 crore.
