Select Citywalk has retained its position as the most favoured mall by retailers year after year. Talking to its tenants the Images Retail team found that most retailers are registering more than satisfactory year-on-year growth on returns. Some of the best performing retailers are Zara, M.A.C, Tommy Hilfiger, Da Milano, Hidesign, US Polo Assn, Tresmode and Imagine (Apple).
The Spanish fast fashion major Zara, which operates in India through a JV partnership between owner Inditex and the Tata Group may have recently reported 35 per cent fall in profit as stated by the company in a filing made to the registrar of companies, however its performance at the Select CityWalk has been phenomenal. Industry sources reveal that despite the negative overall growth, Zara’s star performing flagship store at Select Citywalk still contributes a monthly average of over Rs. 10 crore off its 16,580 sq ft carpet area.
Even the number one global fashion retailer-the Swedish mega-brand H&M is reportedly going to open its first Indian store in Select Citywalk. Yogeshwar Sharma, Executive Director, Select Citywalk neither confirmed nor denied this news. But, talking about the prospects of more global brands coming to India Yogesh said, “with the economic and political situation now stabilising in the country, many international brands are planning to foray in India, one of the brands that will facelift Indian retail in coming years will be Gap, which has re-entered India with Arvind Brands.”
Other brands that India is ready for are Uniqlo and Massimo Dutti and they are expected to do exceptionally well here.
Select CITYWALK is a 1.3 million sq. ft upscale destination shopping centre. This is a part of an overall complex of 54 acres that hosts India’s first six screen, two Gold Class and four premier class PVR Cinemas. It also houses three floors of office space and approx. 1 lakh sq. ft of serviced apartments.
