After hosting events in Hyderabad, Gurgaon, Mumbai and Bengaluru, the 10th edition of Blenders Pride Fashion Tour finally arrived in Kolkata. The two-day fashion event was impeccably crafted to bring out the best in design, music, technology and style.
Raja Banerji, AVP, Pernod Ricard India said, “This is a very proud moment for all of us at Blenders Pride Fashion Tour as we celebrate 10 years of style, substance and excellence. This year, the tour is grander, infused with newer dimensions from various facets of art-forms along with fashion and glamour in literature, sports, music and cinema. This is the final stop of this stylish journey, throughout we have endeavoured and succeeded in setting the stage for the various talents; celebrating style like never before.”
A true ambassador of style with substance, Irrfan Khan presided over the event. The two-day event was kick started by an invigorating show by Varun Bahl and Abraham & Thakore who showcased their creations on the first day of the tour in Kolkata.
Transforming the look of every model, imbibing his signature colour palettes whilst featuring his beloved floral embroideries, the quintessentially western silhouettes of Varun Bahl, brought elegance to the ramp – curated in nuanced texture and high quality, painstakingly handcrafted embroidery. The ace designer said, “For me style is elegance. The woman who wears my clothes is a global soul, sensual yet elegant, understated, yet chic. To live in such a diverse culture with confidence, she must have a wardrobe that respects and represents her global nature and life. Style for me is global. These are clothes for the new Indian woman, who is ambitious, strong, and knows how to push her boundaries. This year’s collection is a distillate of my decade in fashion.”
Shaped by a palette based on the golden hues of wild silk, Abraham & Thakore unveiled their collection based on the urban shikar, where the streets of a city are the terrain, a smartphone is the defense.
Decoding style in their own elegant way they said, “Style is in art, music, design and culture. We believe style is in the substance of a city. We come from Delhi, a city which has got many facets, thus making it a terrific place for developing individual styles.”
While the final day of the tour presented an array of stylish couture and cutting edge collections of Pankaj & Nidhi and Namrata Joshipura.
They shared, “Our collection takes inspiration from the Glass House, which is a place of extraordinary visual delight with mirrors and glass panes affecting a myriad of infinite reflections originating from the water and landscape surrounding it. These are interpreted in three dimensional layered embroideries using specially developed reflective materials in the outfits that we have designed.”
Namrata Joshipura, ‘the queen of prêt’, came next to present her contemporary and edgy designs. Her designs showcased bold colours, chic street sport profiles and dressier skirts, falls personifying strong women, who don’t have any hesitation in turning heads when they enter a room. Representing the strong and eternal sense of personal style, Namrata Joshipura twisted convention with stunning execution.
Joshipura said, “My Spring 15’ collection is a statement of strong silhouettes with beautiful embroideries and prints – the juxtaposition is provocative and exciting. Strong accents such as jewel encrusted necks and vibrant prints bring the collection to life.”
