Amira Pure Foods, which announced the launch of a new range of premium organic products earlier in December, is to retail India-sourced organic food ranges in overseas markets.

“We have immediate plans to launch our customised ‘Organic Food Products Range’ in USA, Europe and Middle East markets,” Karan A Chanana, chairman and CEO, Amira Group, told indiaretailing.

Amira Group is currently boosting its product portfolio with organic products such as organic rice, lentils & beans, flour, spices, oil & ghee to the Indian consumers. These products will be made available across all retail platforms in India. The company has tied up with 7500 farmer families to cultivate 12,000 hectares for multiple organic crops.

“Our goal is to become a global speciality food company and India is a very important market for us to help us achieve that vision. We are now looking at introducing more speciality and gourmet products in this market,” Chanana said.

The company is providing farmers with the technical guidance, marketing linkage for various organic crops along with the access to the best organic and sustainable methods of farming, best quality seeds and bio-inputs. Amira organic farming projects are located in the Terai regions of India near the Ganga and Yamuna riverbeds.

“Amira’s organic product range will be made available across all retail platforms in India. We already sells our conventional rice products through Wal-Mart Best Price, Metro Cash & Carry, Reliance Cash & Carry, Reliance Fresh, Bookers, Spencer’s, Big Bazaar, Easy Day, More Hyper, Needs, D’mart, Spar and Star Bazaar,” Chanana said.
