Italy’s premier eyewear brand NAU, which recently entered India, says that it has received an overwhelming response from India in first week and is planning to open 70 outlets across the country.
“We have got a tremendous response from our recent store opening in Gurgaon. We were sold out on few models and had to order a replenishment of stock within a week of our operations in India,” Vaibhav Sharma, Director of Trinity Group, which has received the rights of master franchisee for NAU in India, told indiaretailing.
Unlike other International eyewear brands, NAU has decided to stick to exclusive outlets and not make its products available in any multi-brand outlets.
” Our strategy is exactly as in Italy: a smart new and innovative brand based on fashion, colors, design and almost unique products exclusively distributed into its own shops as it will allow us to keep a check on the pricing, customer services and store experience,” Sharma said.
NAU, launched in 2005, has 90 stores in Italy and follows the single brand strategy there as well. Company sees a huge potential in the Indian market and has some aggresive expansion plans for coming years.
“In the next five years, we plan to open 70 stores out of which 17-20 stores would be owned by the company and rest would be sub-franchise stores,” Sharma divulged.
“We plan to set up 4-5 stores in NCR region, then moving on to Mumbai and then to other Metro cities. We would also like to focus towards North East, starting from Guwahati, as it is an unexplored market with huge potential,” he added.
NAU offers optical glasses, sunglasses, kids collection and accessories ranging between Rs 2,000 and Rs 10,000. Just like Spanish chain Zara, NAU aims to change its merchandise within two weeks to offer customers fresh stock on their next visit.
This is Trinity Group’s first venture in retail business. The group has subsidiaries in other businesses such as real estate, construction and education.
NAU’s second store will open in mid-October in Delhi’s Khan Market, Sharma said.
