HyperCITY continues with North India focus, opens second store in Delhi NCR

After expanding its store network in West and South India, K Raheja Corp company HyperCITY Retail (India) has shifted its focus to North India, by opening its second store in New Delhi’s Janakpuri area at the Unity One Mall.
In November last year, the company opened its first store in Delhi NCR in Garden Galleria Mall, Noida. This is chain’s 18th and North India’s fourth store in the country. It has one store each in Jaipur and Amritsar.
“Expanding our presence in North India is an important part of our growth strategy for India. This is clearly a priority market for us and we have a formidable plan in place to build a leadership position here,” Govind Shrikhande, Managing Director of Shoppers Stop Ltd. said in an official release.
“Moreover, Delhi is an exciting city for HyperCITY and building our store presence here will continue to remain a top priority in 2016,” he added.
In an earlier interview with Indiaretailing, Shrikhande has shared the company’s plan to open three stores in Delhi NCR, this year.
“On an average we have been targeting to open two to three stores, investing about Rs 40 crores. Our second store is coming at Janakpuri in three months’ time followed by the third outlet at Logix’s City Centre Mall in six months’ time. Then there is a line up of additional stores in other parts in the next two to three years,” he had said then, informing about the chain’s expansion strategy in North India.

Spread over 38,000 sq.ft., the store will boast a wide range of products across categories such as grocery, fruits & vegetables, personal care, apparel, footwear, small appliances, home decor, sports, toys, stationery, kitchen accessories, gifting, fitness and more.
HyperCITY’s PL portfolio comprises Everyday in Food, Ebano and Avorio in Home-ware, Maxit in Sports, Technix in Appliances, Iktara, Masala Chai and RiverInc in Fashion among others.
In 2013-2014, the company’s retail turnover grew by 6.81% to reach Rs 904 crore in 2014-2015, up from Rs 846 crore in 2013-2014. The same store sales growth also rose by 7% and sales per square feet grew by more than 17%.
