Snapdeal has invited trouble for itself by using Good Friday as a promotional campaign. In a flow of discounts and offers, it perhaps forgot that the mourning day of ‘Good Friday’ depicts Jesus Christ’s crucifixion.
This blunder in etiquette has landed them in a serious fix as the Christian community has taken it as an offense against the mourning event.
A Snapdeal spokesperson was quoted by the PTI as saying, “We regret the tag line used, it is an error on our part. We extend our sincere apologies to all whose feelings we may have hurt inadvertently. We will work to ensure that something like this never happens again”.
Snapdeal had introduced some weekend offers on the occasion of Holi. In their promotional emails, they added a subject line “It’s a really really good Friday|Flat 40 per cent Off”. Since it is a day of sorrow for the Jesus followers, the tag line was not taken in a healthy spirit.
Myntra , the online shopping store has also been reported to run a similar promotional campaign and has offered discounts from 50-80 per cent to its customers. The company however has refused to give any comments on this matter.
