Government to form a panel for e-consumer complaints

Must Read

Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan announced on Wednesday that a committee will be set up to deal with the consumer complaints on the e-commerce platform.

The committee will take care of problems consumers face like non-delivery of products, substandard quality, payment related issues and many others.

“E-commerce is growing. There are many consumer complaints. We will set up a committee to look into this matter and suggest how to deal with it,” Shri Ram Vilas Paswan was quoted by PTI as saying.

“The issue was discussed in length in the CCPC meeting and it was decided that the new committee will submit the report on e-commerce issues within 15 days,” a Consumer Affairs Ministry official was quoted by PTI as saying.

The suggestions will be incorporated in the proposed Consumer Protection Bill in Parliament, which also has provisions for protecting online customers.

The Ministry is also holding discussions with some NGOs which deal with e-commerce related problems and trying to figure out a successful way to deal with them.
