Big Fish Ventures inks deal with Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan

Umang Tewari’s Big Fish Ventures – which runs some of the largest premium dining lounges in Delhi including Vault Café, Garam Dharam, Public Connection, Junkyard Café, Café OMG and Three Pegs Down – has signed an agreement with Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan. The terms and conditions of the deal have been kept under wraps.
According to the sources familiar to the matter Arbaaz Khan might come on board as a partner and the brand might open new restaurants. Big Fish Ventures which is growing day by day is also planning to venture into the international market soon.
In an exclusive chat with Indiaretailing Bureau, Tewari – who is the majority stakeholder and owner of Big Fish Ventures – revealed: “We are planning to venture into Dubai. Initial talks are on but nothing has been finalised yet. However, we are expecting to finalise everything soon and we look forward to opening an outlet of Junkyard Cafe and one outlet of Garam Dharam in Dubai by this year end.”
He also plans to invest over Rs 200 crore to expand his restaurant empire. He said, “The investment will be the combination of private equity and internal accruals.”
By the end of this fiscal, the restaurant count under the umbrella of Big Fish Ventures will go up to 20 from 14.  He said, “Currently, the foodservice industry is in a very dynamic state. Food, drinks, ambience and events are four major elements which contribute to the success of any restaurant.”
The company plans to go bigger and better in the four dynamics of the restaurant business – location, pricing, unique concept, and offerings.
According to Tewari, “We are opening three Junkyard Cafe outlets in Mumbai and three Garam Dharam outlets in different locations – Murthal, Chandigarh and Noida.”

Tewari said he is also launching a new concept restaurant, Local, by November end this year. Spread over 14,000 sq.ft and situated in the heart of Delhi – Connaught Place, the restaurant will be serving local favourites from all across India. It is going to be pocket-friendly restaurant where every dish will be priced under Rs 300.
Apart from this, he is in the process of launching another celebrity-based restaurant.
“Taking the legacy forward of introducing celebrity-based restaurants like Garam Dharam, we have inked a deal with with Bollywood actor-producer Arbaaz Khan. We expect that this deal will go through by the end of September 2016,” he said.
With these brands in operation and new launches in the pipeline, Big Fish is expecting to clock sales of over Rs 50 crore in FY 15-16 and over Rs 150 crore in FY 16-17. The company is also expecting 20-25 per cent increase in their revenue in current fiscal.
